The Black Cow
Coffee Co.
A community gathering place
Proudly Black, Queer, and Woman-owned and operated.
Since it opened its doors in 1995, the Black Cow has been the heart of the Croton-on-Hudson community - a place to drink delicious coffee and come together as a community.
After 25 years of pulling espresso, original owners Michael and Peggy Grant retired to Vermont, passing the spoon (torch) to the next generation of Black Cow owners in Croton and at the two Black Cow sister shops in Pleasantville and Phelps Hospital.
The heart of the community since 1995.
Long-time Black Cow coffee roaster Cole and his wife Faith took the stirrers (reins) in Croton in 2023, bringing their own ideas and energy to the Cow, while maintaining its community heart.
In Pleasantville, Michele, long-time Black Cow manager, continues to nurture her family of customers.
And at Phelps Hospital, Amanda (Michael’s niece) is carrying on the tight-knit community she has built among the hospital staff.
